performances of classic short fiction stories. Not your run of the
mill audiobooks, Wordplay Audio Theatre's recordings are performance
pieces; the perfect meeting of literature and theatre, a

| OUR PHILOSOPHY |
|
Wordplay Audio Theatre
uses professional actors to record short stories, but while most audio
book companies instruct their readers to give a neutral read we
urge our actors to create a performance! We are seeking a theatrical
experience for our listeners, an interpretation of the story that moves
us emotionally. To this end, we rehearse, and rehearse, and
rehearse some more, but
we record our stories "live", without making any audio cuts or other
edits, giving you a spontaneous, "living theatre" experience.
Anything can happen in a Wordplay dynamic living reading; we
try our best to get as close as we can to the experience of a
live, theatrical performance!

Wordplay
was created to bring classic literature from
the page to the stage.
Inspired by the terrifically entertaining readings of short stories
sponsored by National Public Radio, Producing Director Thomas Bray
decided to begin offering live, Dynamic Readings in the Fall of 2003!
Mr. Bray, a Portland resident and professional actor, writer, producer
& director, is Wordplay's Principal Reader. He is also regularly
joined by some of Portland's finest actors and actresses.
Wordplay Audio Theatre was recently created to
make our performances available to a wider audience.
